Maori Romiromi Protocol
Elodie has been training in Maori Romiromi with Ana Goncalves from Knoxville, and directly with Atarangi Muru, Maori Healer and Master Teacher from New Zealand for over a decade. She has travelled to New Zealand to continue to learn and practice by attending the “Te Rongopae” 2018 bodywork training, and had the opportunity to study and train at her amazing teacher’s Atarangi Muru’s clinic, and more recently went to France to learn from the Maoris Healers during their travels in December 2022. As per Atarangi’ s request, Elodie is now offering the Romiromi protocol that Atarangi has taught her. Clients stay fully dressed on the massage table (in loose comfortable clothing). Elodie will use energy work, a Raakau (stick), hands, elbows, knees and feet to move the body and the energy and will do deep compressive work and stretches. This allows the body to let go of what is ready to release.
The Holistic Treatment of the Postpartum body – POSTPARTUM MASSAGE
A postpartum massage will help rebalance the body, soothe sore muscles, cramping and will encourage pelvis structural integrity. Trained at the Institute for Birth Healing by Lynn Schulte Physical Therapist, your massage therapist will apply the method of looking for the common pregnancy and birth patterns that may be left in mother’s bodies.
They will focus on helping internal organs to resume proper placement and re-establish pelvic structural integrity, help to restore the uterus to its original state, relieve neck, shoulder, hand, and wrist pain from caring for a newborn, ease lower back and pelvic pain, facilitate healing after a Cesarean birth with manual scar tissue remediation and address birth trauma.
What type of disfunction can it gently address: Diastatis recti, stress, baby blues, sore arms, wrists and shoulders from breastfeeding, mid back pain, low back pain, C-section scar discomfort, loss of sensation and connection in the pelvic bowl, bulging sensation, bladder prolapse, bladder leakage, difficulty taking a deep breath, pain with penetration, constipation, diarrhea..
This session is not only for new moms but for all postpartum moms. If you have had a vaginal birth, you can receive this massage as soon as you feel ready. However, if you have had a Cesarian birth, please wait 6 weeks to be fully healed.
We ask that you come wearing loose yoga pants or leggings to this session, and know that abdominal massage and gentle visceral manipulation will be performed.
The treatment consists of a 60 min massage but plan to be there for 90 min as we will take the time to discuss your birth story and if you are a new mom, find out how you are healing and adjusting to caring for your newborn.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is a great tool for anyone with an active lifestyle. Whether you are a serious athlete or just getting started, this modality can help you with both the training and recovery aspects of your specific sport. It is a great way to prevent injury, keep muscles loose and healthy, and recover faster from your workouts.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue massage is a Meadowsweet specialty! It is a powerful modality that works with both the physical and emotional bodies. Our therapists expertly use deep strong pressure to address muscle tension, chronic pain, poor posture and accumulated stress. Stretching and opening the body, and quieting the mind, will leave you feeling lighter and a little taller.
Relaxation Massage
Always with a therapeutic approach, our relaxation massage is individualized to your needs. Our therapists will use a lighter touch, long broad and fluid strokes, stretches, rocking, and energy work in order to relax and open your body, slow down your nervous system, and gently move along toxins and stagnant fluids. So breathe in the essential oils diffused in the room, close your eyes, and forget about everything else.
Prenatal Massage
Most of our therapists are trained in prenatal massage and would love to help you feel great during your pregnancy! They will blend a variety of techniques including Thai Yoga massage, Deep Tissue massage, and Swedish massage, to stretch, lengthen and relax mama’s sore muscles. Past your due date? We know it is hard to relax at this point, but relaxation may be just what will start the process, in addition to some key pressure points that may help move things along.
Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by laying on hands and is based on the idea that a life force energy flows through us.
The word Reiki means “spiritually guided life force energy.”
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing. It treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. It is a deeply relaxing session, where the client remains fully clothed, and usually on his/her back the entire time.
